How to Create a Water Fountain in Your Garden

A decorative water fountain is a fantastic feature for a variety of different spaces. Place one on your patio, within a larger garden, or lit up next to a walkway.

With many different options to choose from, it can be tricky to decide which water fountain to install in your garden.

In today's blog, we take a look at some of the different types of water fountains available at Aquascape Australia, and how to install them in your outdoor space.

How to Choose Your Water Fountain

There are lots of water fountains to choose from, and finding the right one for you will depend on a number of different factors. The first is the overall style of your outdoor space. Do you have a modern patio or a more traditional garden? The fountain you choose should complement the style of your space.

Size is another important factor to consider. You don't want a water fountain that is too big for the space you have available.

Finally, think about how much maintenance you're willing to do. Some water fountains require more upkeep than others. Our decorative water features are generally low maintenance, and designed for those with busy lives and schedules, so you can spend more time enjoying your water feature and less time maintaining it.

All of the water fountains stocked by Aquascape Australia are designed to be chip and weather-resistant.

Once you've had a bit of a think about the different factors, you can start narrowing down your options and take a closer look at the types of water fountains available.

Types of Water Fountains

We stock a wide range of water fountains in different shapes and sizes. From small patio fountains through to larger, elaborate designs. Have a browse through the fountains listed below to find the perfect one for your garden.

Urns & Spheres

Our urn and sphere water fountains are beautiful designs for both small patios and larger spaces. Available in a multitude of size options, these urns and spheres can be placed in the corner of a garden, on a patio, or next to a walkway. Install them as a standalone design or incorporate one into a larger feature such as a waterfall or recreation pond. These water features cover very little ground space, which means they can be a good choice for tight spots.

Urn and sphere water fountains can also be grouped together to make gorgeous fountain clusters. Shop the range of sphere and urn water features available on Aquascape Australia, and bring the sights and sounds of running water to your garden.

Stacked Slate Walls

Stacked Slate Wall water fountains are an elegant feature, perfect for a range of different spaces. They come straight or curved in two heights, with various spilling options. These features are ideal for many different spaces either as a single wall or as a combination side-by-side or stacked design. Place your wall water fountain in the corner of your patio, surrounded by pebbles for a simple, calming design, or surrounded by plants along the side of your home. Incorporate lighting into your feature for a stunning design that can be enjoyed both day and night.

Spillway Bowl & Basins

Spillway bowl & basins are another water fountain that can be used in a variety of different spaces. These fountains are a great way to bring a simple pond water feature to your space. Grow water lilies or other aquatic plants in your spillway basin to add life and colour to the fountain.

For those with extra space, try stacking multiple spillway bowls together to create an elaborate, cascading water feature.

How to Set Up Your Own Water Fountain

Setting up your water fountain from Aquascape Australia is a relatively simple process. In fact, our water fountains can generally be unboxed, installed, and switched on within a matter of hours.

If you wish to buy all of the parts for your water fountain individually, you can peruse our website and purchase them separately. Alternatively, purchase one of our fountain kits that contain each part needed for your install.

To begin the installation, choose a spot for your water fountain to be positioned in. Once you've selected the location, measure out the space where you'll be placing the basin and dig out the dirt. Place the basin in the hole you've dug, then install the pump and additional plumbing. Finally, place the water feature on top and place decorative stones, plants, and pebbles around the base as you desire. Turn the feature on and you should have beautiful flowing water!
