How to Install an Aquascape DecoBasin Fountain
With Aquascape's decorative fountain kits, installing and enjoying the beauty and sound of a fountain in your yard has never been easier or more economical. With the many choices and styles, just pick the one that suits your style and budget.
To start, simply open the box, and remove the decorative fountain kit you have
selected. A huge benefit of using any Aquascape fountain kit is that everything
you need is contained in a single kit. From the fountain to the basin to the
pump and even the plumbing, it's all included. The only tools you will need is
a shovel, a wheelbarrow, and a level. With a bag of decorative gravel and some
mulch, you are ready to add a great, new water feature to your landscape.
Start by placing the decorative piece you selected where you think you'll be
able to enjoy it most to get an idea of how it will look. Now that you have the
exact location that you're happy with, it's time to dig. Use the top of the
DecoBasin as a guide to mark out the area for your hole. Dig the hole, and use
a wheelbarrow to hold the excess dirt. Place the DecoBasin into the excavated
hole, making sure it is slightly below surrounding grade level. Make sure it is
level both side to side and front to back. Backfill around the basin to lock it
into place, and stabilize it.
Now, it's time to place the bib around the DecoBasin. Make sure the bib slopes
gently towards the DecoBasin so that all of the splash goes back into the basin
and not away from it. Next, take the plumbing, and insert it through the top
hole of your fountain. The plastic seal at the end of your tubing should be
pushed down into the top hole of the fountain to form a seal. This will allow
water to flow naturally over the sides of your decorative fountain. The pump
can now be inserted into the top hole of the DecoBasin. The barb fittings on
the pump can then be attached to the tubing that extends from the bottom of the
fountain, and that's it for the pump and the plumbing.
Now, you're ready to add gravel and even some decorative stone to camouflage
the basin and bib. Check the level again at the top of the fountain, and adjust
accordingly, assuring the decorative gravel and stones are supporting the
fountain around its base.
The final step is to add water to the basin from your hose, step back, and
enjoy. Usually, in less than two hours, you can install an Aquascape fountain
kit, transforming any landscape from drab to fab.
